Service Technician
Jacob is a bright rookie technician who is quickly catching on at Rush Truck Centers. He handles a high percentage of our PM services, completing them in a timely manner and effectively identifying deficiencies that might cause additional downtime for customers.
Jacob started his career as an intern and has progressed to a tech level 2. Jacob has completed all his LMS requirements and has earned our trust when it comes to inspecting these units during PM services. He does a great job of checking with the foreman or a mentor if he has questions.
Jacob’s KPIs are impressive! He exceeds his tech level for proficiency and efficiency—excellent figures for a level 2 technician. Jacob has a strong work ethic and has been very dependable. He often stays late to ensure all tasks are completed and has taken on additional responsibilities, such as training new hires on PM procedures.
Jacob does many Idealease PMs and repairs. He does a thorough job on his inspections and keeps unscheduled downtime to a minimum. Jacob’s foreman says that he is always willing to lend a hand when needed to take over and finish a job or look at an unexpected drop-in. One example is that when we implemented Saturday shop hours, Jacob volunteered to work on Saturdays. We really appreciate Jacob’s great attitude!
VETERANS
Service Technician
Rick is top-notch! He is an experienced technician, having worked on trucks with North Central International for 30 years and in diesel mechanics since high school.
Rick can repair anything in an incredibly timely manner, showcasing the knowledge of a true veteran. He has the heart of a teacher and is a great mentor for all technicians. This year, Rick had to rebuild the entire front gear train of an engine in a milk truck. He set the gears for the crank in the oven around 5 p.m., came back to work three hours later, and finished the job that night, ensuring the truck was ready for the driver to pick up milk on his regular route the next morning.
Rick can tackle any task with no frustration, always maintaining a happy demeanor. If someone at the dealership is having a rough day, a chat with Rick and his happy-go-lucky attitude can make anyone feel better. No matter how big or small, every job is equally important to Rick. He consistently has the highest efficiency, proficiency, and productivity in the shop. Here at North Central International of Glencoe, we call Rick “The Rockstar.”
Service Technician
Ryan excels in every aspect around the shop and is a great co-worker, providing excellent support to younger technicians to help boost them to the next level of diagnostics and repair work. He is a large reason many are in the trade, as he is big on onboarding and improving the team and the trade itself. Always willing to look at a problem and offer advice or ideas, Ryan makes everyone feel welcome at East Coast International Trucks. He has stepped in to cover foreman positions when needed and has done extremely well in those roles.
Ryan works long hours to get jobs done, sometimes showing up at 7 a.m. and not leaving until midnight because he is committed to completing a task. He works very efficiently and is extremely determined, making him an excellent brand ambassador who loves working for International.
Ryan Ball has shown a keen interest in learning since he started helping to paint trailers on weekends at the age of 16. Constantly asking for more work and wanting to learn new skills, he was fully enrolled as an apprentice after high school. He started with services and PMs, completed all his training online, and became a master technician in a short time. Ryan is now one of our top engine techs, always willing to tackle any task given to him.
Ryan helps out whenever needed, whether it is staying late to clean a new truck for a customer or coming in on weekends to repair a customer’s truck. He even came in on a Sunday to fix a plow truck’s engine issues, ensuring it was back on the road by supper time. Recently, he worked two shifts over three days to get trucks ready for the sales department by the end of the month. Even after punching out, he often stays to help other techs finish their jobs.
At only 23 years old, Ryan has completed his third block of apprenticeship, has finished all his International training, and is Master Certified for truck and bus. He recently took the Top Team Test and won a trip to the expo for hands-on testing. With the quality of his work and attention to detail, his comebacks are nearly zero. He takes his time to complete jobs correctly, checks everything over, and ensures the customer’s vehicle is returned clean.
Ryan challenges himself daily to meet the demands of the dealership and support customer uptime. He knows when to stop and ask questions, reflecting his efficiency and consciousness of repair times. His great work ethic makes him an ambassador for the next generation coming through.
