These tech professionals have less than two years of experience at the dealership, have shown commitment to Uptime by being top producers, have gone the extra mile, and have proven they are responsible and trustworthy.

Service Technician

Connor has shown dedication and drive to learn all the skills needed to become a great technician. More than that, he is always willing to go the extra mile for customers. He is always asking about upcoming training opportunities and checking for any available and new training courses. He is eager to learn, always listening to veteran techs.
Even though Connor has only been at Five Star International for less than 2 years, his knowledge of all things trucking is incredible. He is extremely versed with the transmission side of things. Connor has taken the lead on being the shop's transmission / clutch specialist. He keeps up on all the bulletins and is always there to assist other techs with issues or questions. He is constantly helping new hires or less-informed employees on the proper ways to diagnose and R&R transmissions. Connor volunteers for the jobs that most techs shy away from, and he does this knowing he can improve his knowledge and workmanship. Connor recently stayed after his shift to help button up an A26 engine repair so a customer could get their driver back on the road. Connor has stayed late numerous times to complete a job to get trucks back on the road.
 
Connor has been a great addition to this team. He brings a lot of ambition and professionalism to the dealer; he always has a smile and is very friendly. He constantly is showing honor, respect, and devotion to his work. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Connor.

Victor Carambia, Greer, SC | Carolina International

Service Technician

Victor, a technician at our Greer Carolina International location, is positive no matter what. “In the 8 months that I have worked with him, I have never heard him complain or even get upset,” said the Greer Service Manager. “He goes above and beyond his duties every day, whether speaking with a customer with a question or explaining exactly what is needed for a quote. Victor is always the first to volunteer to clean or organize the shop and is usually one of the last guys to leave for the day.

Victor frequently checks with the Service Advisors in the office to keep us updated on his progress. He is always willing to help out with anything that is asked. Most recently he went out of his way to take pictures of something I needed for a unit he was not working on.

Victor is never scared to ask for help and is always willing to help out another tech in need as well. He often stays late to finish a job. Victor is very thorough with his work and notes. Victor is the most pleasant guy I know to be around. Even when I know he has personal things going on at home, he still shows up with a smile on his face and nothing but nice things to say.

Lead Service Technician

Peter began his career here at Lewis Motors in 2008, shortly after we opened this branch. As a rookie apprentice, Peter expressed a willingness to learn, as well as the drive and ambition to excel as a Truck Technician. Fast forward 15 years. Over the last 15 years, Peter has matured into a premium International Technician and a leader amongst his peers. He has remained a loyal employee and an ambassador for both Lewis Motors and International. Just ask any one of his fellow employees and or the numerous customers who have become accustomed to relying on his service and dedication in fixing their vehicles. 
 
Peter has been the Lead Hand on our afternoon shift since we introduced the position. When management goes home for the day, it's Peter to the rescue. It isn't uncommon for Peter to work well past the end of his shift, which ends at 10 p.m., to ensure that a customer vehicle is ready to go back into service first thing in the morning. On many occasions, we have found him still here when we open at 7:00 a.m. He has helped customers out of jams by performing emergency roadside services on his way home. He volunteers to organize the tools and update the tool inventory list. On many winter nights, Peter will bring trucks into the shop so that when the technicians come in the next morning, they do not have to dig trucks out of the snow, and the techs appreciate it. Some would call some of these things “Going the Extra Mile” but around here we just call it "Being Peter Wilson." 
 
Peter takes pride in getting jobs done in a respectable time frame and getting customer trucks back into service. Month over month, year over year, Peter is at the top of the leaderboard, as illustrated in our Technician Performance Reports. His commitment to productivity and customer uptime is the main reason customers drive past other dealers to bring their International trucks to Lewis Motors, Sharon.

Corny Friesen, Lethbridge, Alberta | Southland International Trucks Ltd

Service Technician

Corny has been a pillar of Southland International Trucks Ltd for 8 years. He came to us with no experience after applying to other heavy truck dealers in the area. After the interview process, we recognized that the skills he had mastered in construction and manufacturing could be transferred to the heavy truck industry. Little did we know that this diamond in the rough would advance at such a pace that would be very hard to match! Corny is respected not only in our dealership but within the larger community!

Corny’s great attitude and disposition check all the boxes for selflessness when it comes to customer care, helping his colleagues, and whoever may come across his path in need of help. Whatever he puts his hand to, he masters it very quickly. Corny’s commitment to International’s programs is phenomenal! Weekly he works to improve our Accelerated Service Bay program, looking at ways we can shorten triage time. His passing on of knowledge to all our techs, young and old, has assisted in keeping comebacks to a minimum and identifying techs who can be given more challenging repairs.

Corny also helps with Southland International Dealer initiatives such as our TECH EmPOWERment projects, one of which is EPIC (Exploring Possible Industries & Careers) in Lethbridge. Every year, Corny and the Service Manager go to the event and educate students from all over Southern Alberta about career opportunities within the HET and HET parts industry.

Corny shows great initiative. He has attained International Diamond Certification in truck and bus, Alberta Heavy Duty Tech, and Canadian Red Seal tickets, completed all Cummins certifications, and has become one of our premier diagnostic advisors and leaders.

Corny annually reviews the prestige standard of service excellence with our management team to help increase billable hours and to keep our efficiency up on each repair.

Corny’s attitude and great character to accept any challenge put before him is truly inspirational to all the staff at Southland International Trucks. We are honored to work with such a thoroughbred!

Corny is a man with great integrity and we learn from him daily!
